Joint Use of a Training Classroom of the External Training Institution of SMÚ and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava
The management of the Slovak Institute of Metrology (SMÚ) has provided a newly established training classroom within its External Training Institution for joint use by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (SjF STU), represented by Prof. Ing. Ľubomír Šooš, PhD.
The classroom is equipped to a modern standard, featuring the necessary technical infrastructure as well as basic metrological instruments. Its location provides convenient access to SMÚ’s metrology laboratories.
The event was attended by academic staff and students from SjF STU, as well as representatives of SMÚ, including the Director of the Metrology Department and the heads of its individual units. The meeting provided an opportunity for open dialogue focused on the exchange of practical experience in educational methodologies, as well as on the activities of SMÚ in its capacity as the National Metrology Institute of the Slovak Republic. The programme also included a guided tour of selected metrology laboratories.
The joint objective of SMÚ and SjF STU is to further strengthen institutional cooperation with the aim of enhancing practical training for future technical specialists, particularly for application in research and development activities within the field of metrology. Through this deepened cooperation with the academic sector, SMÚ also seeks to maintain and further develop technical competencies in the context of adverse trends in the Slovak labour market, characterised by a general shortage of human resources with education in technical and natural science disciplines.
