How to Request a Metrological Service?

If an entity is interested in metrological services, they must request a price quote via email at cenoveponuky@smu.gov.sk. This request includes an assessment of whether the required service can be performed. If feasible, the outcome of the request is a prepared price quote and an order form.

What Should a Price Quote Request Include?

A price quote request must provide basic information about the required metrological service, in accordance with Act No. 157/2018 Coll. on Metrology and Amendments to Certain Acts. The request should include:

  • Type of Service: Indicate whether the entity requires calibration or verification.
  • Equipment Identification: Details about the device, including manufacturer, model, serial number, type, and intended use.
  • Basic Parameters: Key technical specifications of the measuring device.
  • Additional Specifications: Any special requirements, such as on-site service, transportation, etc.
  • Proof of Certification Ownership: If the entity has a previous calibration or verification certificate, the request should include a scanned copy or specify the "Request Number" and year of issuance.

Where to Send the Service Order?

The confirmed order form (signed and stamped) must be sent before the service is performed to:

The order form can also be sent:

  • By postal mail – in a package along with the measuring device.
  • In-person when delivering the measuring instrument for the metrological service at the following address:

How to Deliver a Measuring Instrument for Metrological Service?

The measuring instrument can be delivered:

  • In person: Monday to Friday from 09:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 14:00 (Lunch break: 12:00 – 13:00).
  • By mail or courier: Packages must be labeled "MEASURING INSTRUMENT" and addressed to:

Can Metrological Services Be Paid for Immediately?

After the service is completed, an invoice will be sent via postal mail to the company’s billing address provided in the order.

Most required information for price proposal: 

Temperature

Required information when requesting a price quote for thermometers:

  • Whether it is verification or calibration.
  • Type of thermometer (e.g., digital, glass, pyrometer, etc.).
  • Measurement range and capability (from how many to how many °C).
  • Scale resolution (smallest division of the scale).
  • Calibration points (specify exact temperature values at which calibration should take place).

Water/Gas Flow

Required information when requesting a price quote for flow meters:

  • Purpose of service: whether it is verification or calibration.
  • Type of measuring instrument (e.g., electromagnetic, vortex, etc.).
  • Model of the measuring instrument (e.g., Mag xxx, Promag, Vortex, etc.).
  • Manufacturer: name of the manufacturer.
  • Type approval mark (only if the customer requires verification).
  • Connection pipe diameter: expressed in DN.
  • Type of connection (e.g., threaded, sandwich, flanged, etc.).
  • Tested medium (e.g., cold water, hot water, steam, or other liquids).
  • Maximum flow rate: expressed in m³/h.
  • Number of calibration points: specific flow rates in m³/h if calibration is required.
  • Certification requirements: whether a certificate is required or if a verification mark is sufficient.

Level Meters

Required information when requesting a price quote for level meters:

  • Whether it is verification or calibration.
  • Type of level meter required.

Breath Analyzers

Required information when requesting a price quote for breath analyzers:

  • Manufacturer and model of the analyzer.
  • Whether it is an initial or subsequent verification.
  • Information on whether the analyzer was adjusted in a service center before submitting the verification request.

Weight

Required information when requesting a price quote for scales:

  • Whether it is verification or calibration.
  • Maximum weighing capacity.
  • Accuracy class of the scale (I, II, III).
  • Note: For verification and calibration of class I precision scales, the metrological service must be performed at the customer's location. Therefore, the exact address must be provided.

Mass

Required information when requesting a price quote for weights:

  • Weight class/accuracy class.
  • Number of weights to be verified or calibrated.
  • Individual weight values.
