From March 25 to 28, 2025, SMU hosted the first pan-European metrology forum focused on defining the role and strategy of metrology in the field of digitalization.

The event, organized under the auspices of the international organization EURAMET, took place in collaboration with the Working Group on Metrology for Digital Transformation (M4D), the European Group for Mathematics and Statistics (MathMet), and the Technical Committee for Interdisciplinary Metrology (TC-IM).

The goal of the event was to gather valuable input to support the revision of EURAMET's digitalization strategy, reflecting the latest technological trends and emerging challenges in digitalization.

Participants had the opportunity to explore successful digitalization activities across various sectors, such as medicine and industry. The event facilitated open discussions on digitalization in metrology with other technical experts and strategy leaders, providing a platform to ensure that the updated strategy aligns with the interests and challenges of key fields and sectors.

As a continuation of this initiative, a dialogue with the directors of national metrology institutes will take place at the EURAMET General Assembly in 2025. This dialogue will focus on presenting innovations and enhancing communication between different areas of digitalization. It will provide participants with important guidance on how to effectively direct their digitalization efforts in the future.
